North Korea has once again fired a salvo of short-range ballistic missiles, significantly escalating tensions in the region. This is the second such launch in just a week, underscoring the country’s ongoing efforts to expand its nuclear capabilities.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff detected and analyzed multiple missiles fired towards the northeast early Wednesday morning. Japan also confirmed the launch, urging vessels to exercise caution and report any suspicious objects.
Last week, North Korea conducted a similar missile test, claiming it was a new type of multiple rocket launcher. The country has significantly increased its weapons testing this year, declaring South Korea its “principal enemy” and moving nuclear-capable weapons closer to the border.
