Kinsman Redeemer - Coffee with Jesus Podcast
In this video, we dive deep into the biblical concept of the Kinsman Redeemer and its profound significance. Beginning with John’s vision in Revelation, where he weeps because no one is found worthy to open the sealed book, we journey through the story of Ruth to unlock the powerful truths behind redemption. The key figure of Boaz, as the kinsman redeemer, beautifully foreshadows Christ’s ultimate role as our Redeemer.
Just as Boaz fulfilled the law of the kinsman redeemer, being a relative, able, willing, and ready to bear all the obligations of redemption, Jesus Christ became our spiritual redeemer. He paid the ultimate price, not only for Israel but for all mankind, purchasing back what was lost to sin and death. This video explores the parallels between Boaz’s act of redemption for Ruth, a Gentile bride, and Christ's redemptive work for the Church.
We unravel the rich symbolism, the law of Levirate marriage, and how the entire book of Ruth points forward to Jesus Christ—the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, who is both our Kinsman and Savior.
In Revelation 10, we witness a striking scene as a mighty angel stands with one foot on the sea and one on the land, symbolizing God's sovereignty over all creation. The angel declares that "there should be delay no longer," indicating that God's plan for redemption and judgment is about to reach its climax. This echoes the events in Revelation 5, where only Jesus, the Lamb of God, is found worthy to open the sealed scroll. The scroll represents the deed of the earth—redemption that only Christ can accomplish as the true Kinsman Redeemer.
As the seventh angel prepares to sound his trumpet, the mystery of God will be finished, fulfilling what was foretold by the prophets. This brings us to the glorious truth: Jesus' redemptive work is not just about saving souls but redeeming the entire earth from the curse of sin. His sacrifice on the cross was the ultimate act of redemption, much like Boaz’s role in redeeming Ruth and Naomi’s inheritance in the book of Ruth.
This moment in Revelation marks the culmination of God’s eternal plan—restoring creation, defeating evil, and establishing His kingdom forever. As the twenty-four elders and four living creatures fall in worship, we are reminded that Jesus, our Kinsman Redeemer, has already secured the victory, and soon, His kingdom will reign in fullness.
Join us as we continue unpacking these powerful truths, reflecting on how Christ's role as Kinsman Redeemer fulfills God's grand narrative of salvation, not just for individuals, but for all creation.
