Learn the Voting Processes and Volunteer in Your County!

Election Judge (aka Poll Worker), Challengers , and Watchers.
Responsibilites of each ot the 3 volunteers:
Election Judges:
Ensure fair & lawful administration of the electoral process in accordance with federal & state election laws.
Swear to uphold the constitution of the United States and the State.
Each precinct, Democratic and Republican Judges are equally appointed to share the responsibility of operating the polling place.
Resolve questions & disputes in a precinct, both Election Judges are held accountable.
Verify voter eligibility of registered voters, ensure that only authorized individuals cast ballots.
Election judges provide ballots, explain voting procedures and equipment usage, and monitor the conduct of the election.
Alternate Election Judges transport important election materials from the polling precinct to the Board of Election the same night.
Challengers:
Observes the election process to ensure it's fair & in accordance with the law.
Monitor the voting process, including the handling of ballots & voting machines
Make written memoranda of any actions or omissions by election officials.
Challengers may only challenge in the district or districts for which they are appointed, and are not permitted to touch election materials or machines.
Challengers may identify and report any potential voting irregularities to the Election Judge or District Board.
Challengers must file their applications and permits with the relevant election authorities (county board of elections) by the designated deadline, typically 14 days prior to Election Day.
Watchers:
Poll watchers are appointed by political parties, candidates, or citizen groups to observe election proceedings, including voting and ballot counting, at a specific polling place or early voting area.
Non-interference: Poll watchers are prohibited from interacting with voters in any way, including:
Not allowed to assist voters with casting their ballots
Not allowed to prevent election officials from performing their duties
Not allowed to watch voters who need assistance casting their ballots be helped by election officials
Limited presence: Poll watchers are typically placed in designated areas away from voters and are clearly marked with badges.
Reporting: If a poll watcher witnesses any violations of election laws or procedures, they are responsible for reporting these incidents to the officer of elections or poll workers.
Adherence to guidelines: Poll watchers must agree to and adhere to strict guidelines and rules set by the election commission, including:
Not being allowed to enter the 100-foot campaign boundary or wear their watcher badge while campaigning.
Not allowed to have electronic devices with them while observing absentee ballot counting
Not allowed to leave the room after counting has started, except for a bathroom break.
