In September 1918, President Woodrow Wilson, First Lady Edith Wilson, and their family arrived in New York to launch the fourth Liberty Loan drive. Crowds gathered at Pennsylvania Station and lined flag-filled Fifth Avenue in support of the national effort to sell Liberty Bonds during WWI. Highlights include the dedication of the Altar of Liberty in Madison Square and a ceremonial bond sale in Washington, D.C., featuring opera star Geraldine Farrar and Secretary of the Treasury William McAdoo.
