HISTOCRACY - Crawling from Darkness to Light

What was required, clawing out of the pine box and mountains of earth known as superstition and institutional fear, to a place more enlightened, began firstly, with the embers of curiosity - to examine the world as it stood, aweless.

The terrors of the knight, creatures un-natural, reported for centuries, imported from other cultures. The apparition broached the haunted. Lycanthropy, an ancient malady now roaming the country sides of England and Europe. Old menaces, that took on new forms of religious, civil and cultural policies, debated as fiercely and as seriously, as any other term of order amongst the politic of the burgeoning 18th-century.

Additionally, a new night-creature, told on the winds of Eastern Europe, temporal, appetites craving both flesh and blood to retain un-life, The Vampir, joined the discussions, further provisioning physician, magistrate, folk and lore with yet another thread into the facets of godly and demonic. And to the boils come the troubles. Witch-trials and witch denials richly became a staple argument against Catholics and Protestants, Monarchists and Republicans. Colonists and Puritans even were un-immune from the century's old motif by now.

The Enlightenment was a century of harboring in new villains and with great fight and toil, disbanding old one's, while laying the groundwork for monsters and new awe, yet imagined.
