A massive manhunt for 32-year-old Joseph Couch, who allegedly opened fire on Interstate 75 in Kentucky and wounded five people, has entered its seventh day.

After sending threatening texts before the shooting, Couch remains at large in the rugged Daniel Boone National Forest, prompting school closures and warnings to residents to avoid outdoor activities.

Authorities are facing challenges navigating the forest’s treacherous terrain, which spans over 1,100 square miles.

The shooting occurred shortly after Couch claimed in a text that he would “try to kill a lot of people,” and he later expressed intentions to take his own life, CNN has reported.
