Voter Fraud Investigation Rocks Ohio – Citizenship Checks Introduced!
The Ohio state government has introduced a mandatory citizenship verification for all new voter registrations, as per a recent press release. On Thursday, the Ohio Secretary of State's office informed the state’s 88 county boards of elections about an investigation by the Election Integrity Unit that uncovered illegal voter registration forms in Creole, a language predominantly spoken in Haiti.
“The Election Integrity Unit has recently concluded an investigation into an illegal voter registration form translated into Haitian Creole. The Clark County Board of Elections identified and rejected this form after a local applicant submitted it,” the press release stated.
The state is also closely monitoring third-party groups and paid canvassers for potential fraudulent activities.
Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose urged election officials to stay vigilant during the final weeks of voter registration for the 2024 general election. “We’re actively pursuing fraudulent submissions from third-party groups and canvassers, and ensuring only authorized forms are accepted as required by law. This is part of our ongoing efforts to enforce Ohio’s citizenship voting requirement,” LaRose noted.
Following the discovery, election boards across Ohio were advised to be alert to unauthorized voter registration forms.
Hun Yi, Director of Investigations for the Public Integrity Division, clarified that only one such unauthorized form was received, but it was promptly recognized as illegal. “The form was mistakenly included by a foreign language translation service. Given the growing Haitian refugee population in Springfield, this incident underscores the need for vigilance by boards and voter registration agencies,” Yi stated.
The Secretary of State’s office also outlined efforts to strengthen its statewide audit of Ohio’s voter rolls for citizenship compliance, using databases from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and Homeland Security’s SAVE system. They are cross-referencing Social Security, federal jury pool data, and naturalization records to verify voter registration.
The state has requested access to additional Department of Homeland Security databases, including the Person Centric Query Service (PCQS), to further enhance voter registration accuracy.
In the memo, Yi confirmed the mandatory citizenship check for new voter registrations and discussed ongoing investigations into suspected fraudulent voter registration activities in several Ohio counties, reportedly linked to a group called "Black Fork Strategies."
