Sky Asks Laura To Be His Robin in New 'Strangers' Clip
Ahead of the movie's release, Paramount label Republic Pictures shared a new Strangers clip that Game Rant can now exclusively reveal. The 65-second video is taken from one of the early portions of the film, offering viewers a glimpse of how the dynamic between Guillory and Bamber's characters is established. Specifically, Sky asks Laura to be the Robin to his Batman, which surprises her, but only for the moment. The scene ends shortly after Sky makes his full pitch, with Laura's expression suggesting her mind is already made up by then.
Laura's husband, Tony, is played by Emmett J. Scanlan, an Irish actor known for portraying D.C. Glenn Martin from The Fall and Billy Grade from the later seasons of Peaky Blinders. The movie's main cast also includes Academy Award winner Jon Voight, as well as Alex Blake, Kate Nichols, and a dozen other names. Strangers marks a continuation of Jon Voight's collaboration with Republic Pictures, which recently yielded another movie called Shadow Land, a conspiracy thriller that had a limited theatrical release in late May before reaching streaming services in early June 2024.
Principal photography on Strangers took place in Bulgaria throughout 2023. The majority of the movie was shot at Nu Boyana Film Studios in Sofia. The film's runtime is pegged at 1 hour and 46 minutes. Strangers received an R rating from the U.S. Motion Picture Association.
Republic Pictures will treat its upcoming action thriller to a digital release next Tuesday, September 17. Apple TV+ is the only streaming service that has already confirmed it will be adding Strangers to its content catalog on day one. However, more are likely to follow soon, with the fact that Republic Pictures is owned by Paramount suggesting Strangers is likely to end up on Paramount+ as well.
Strangers Trailer
“I jumped right in… The more we did, the easier it became.” Republic Pictures has unveiled an official trailer for an action film called Strangers (as in – killing strangers), not to be confused with the horror franchise at Lionsgate known as The Strangers (Chapter 1 opened earlier this summer.) This is another derivative, generic crime thriller that is being dumped straight to VOD (in September) because it doesn’t look good. A frustrated woman’s life takes a dark turn after a chance encounter with a mysterious hitman. Their whirlwind romance leads her to become a vigilante who kills criminals and dangerous people, but as she digs deeper, she begins to question her partner’s true nature and the shadows they both hide. Naturally, I wonder what’s hiding inside. Strangers stars Sienna Guillory, Jamie Bamber, Emmett J. Scanlan, Alex Blake, Ana Campbell, Nico Zadenmanand with Jon VoightThis looks like a fan fiction version of Linklater’s Hitmanbut not nearly as good. I’m not sure it’s worth watching.

"Let me live in peace. Just you and I." Magnolia Pictures has debuted their own official US trailer for the Korean horror thriller film titled simply Sleep (or 잠 in Korean), an indie creation from filmmaker Jason Yu. This is his feature directorial debut after working as an assistant director for Bong Joon-ho on Okja and other films. It's finally getting a proper US release in theaters and on VOD this fall after playing on the festival circuit for a year. "When he sleeps, someone awakes..." A pregnant wife who becomes worried about her husband’s sleeping habits. What starts out as some light sleep-talking soon escalates to unexpectedly grotesque behaviour. They consult a sleep clinic without success and as his nightmarish behaviour escalates, they desperately seek help from a shaman. Starring Jung Yu-mi as Soo-jin & Lee Sun-kyun as Hyeon-soo, with Kim Gook-hee. It debuted at last year's Critics Week sidebar at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. Sleep is genuinely scary and unsettling, one of those movies that might make you have trouble sleeping, too.

By Alex Billington
The Front Room Trailer #2
"She's taking over the house!" This looks nuts! A24 has revealed a second trailer for a horror thriller titled The Front Room, marking the feature directorial debut of the Eggers Brothers - Max & Sam. They're also brothers of the filmmaker Robert Eggers (of The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman) and worked with him on a few of those films, too. This new original horror film in ready to land theaters early in September. The Front Room is about a young, newly pregnant couple who must suddenly take in an ailing, estranged stepmother. A24 describes it as: the incomparable Brandy returns to horror in a legendary face-off against Kathryn Hunter, the wickedest mother-in-law of them all. Starring singer / actress Brandy Norwood as Belinda, with Andrew Burnap, Neal Huff, and Kathryn Hunter. This still looks a lot like Get Out, though I'm hoping that Brandy fights back and takes her down. Plenty of crazy WTF shots in this new trailer! Enjoy.

Second Trailer for 'Kraven The Hunter' Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson
By Alex Billington
Kraven The Hunter Trailer
"You're just another man hunting for a trophy... just like our father." Sony has quietly revealed the second trailer for Kraven the Hunter, which has been reset for a release in December at the end of this year. This anti-hero, R-rated Sony comic book adaptation is based on the Marvel character, inspired by the Russian hunter from The Most Dangerous Game story. Kraven was originally as a renowned big-game hunter whose goal in life is to beat Spider-Man to prove himself as the world's greatest hunter. In this adaptation, Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars as the Russian immigrant Sergei Kravinoff - who is on a mission to prove that he is the greatest hunter in the world. "Villains aren't born. They're made." The full cast includes Russell Crowe as his dad, Ariana DeBose, Christopher Abbott, Alessandro Nivola as The Rhino, Fred Hechinger as Chameleon. The very first trailer for this debuted more than a year ago, before they delayed the release for a few months. This still looks so bad. Terrible song choice for this trailer, too. Nah, I'll pass on this one...

The first season of this series launched on FX back in the summer of 2022 (here's the trailer) featuring an impressive cast all around. Jeff Bridges stars as "The Old Man" Dan, along with John Lithgow, Amy Brenneman, Alia Shawkat, Navid Negahban, Jacqueline Antaramian, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Bill Heck, & Leem Lubany. Just like the first season, there's some dogs in the footage but they don't feature as prominently this time. And that helicopter shot at the end is epically badass! Anyone out there excited for it to continue into Season 2?

Full Trailer for 'Lost on a Mountain in Maine' Survival Adventure Film
By Alex Billington
Lost on a Mountain in Maine Film Trailer
"You want us to be men, then let us be men! We don't need you. We're going to the top." Blue Fox Ent. has revealed an official trailer for an indie film titled Lost on a Mountain in Maine, a survival adventure thriller from filmmaker Andrew Boodhoo Kightlinger. This one recently premiered at the 2024 Maine Film Festival (never even knew this festival existed?) and will open in theaters nationwide in November this fall. Based on the best-selling book of the same name, Lost on a Mountain in Maine tells the amazing true story of a 12 year old boy that gets separated from his family during a fast moving storm while on a treacherous hike on Maine's largest mountain peak. He will fight to stay alive during his nine-day adventure lost in the backwoods of Maine. From producer Sylvester Stallone, the film stars Luke David Blumm, Paul Sparks, Caitlin FitzGerald, Ethan Slater, and Griffin Wallace Henkel. This film has such a blatantly literal title - just hope the rest is any good. Intriguing to see that it's a film critiquing the "be tough" notion of men.
