Here is a beginner's tip for choosing an appropriate color palette for a Thermal Rifle scope. The appropriate color will depend upon the surrounding infra red signature compared with that of your quarry. Therefore the time of day and season will have an affect upon the choice of color palette and also whether your quarry is hiding amongst vegetation or a rocky background.

There is NO color palette which can function for all situations. Choosing the correct or rather the most appropriate color palette will come with experience in determining the physical temperatures and IR signatures of your hunting environment.
