Why the Mild European Weather is So Extreme?

Europe's Summer weather has seen extremely warm weathers, the winters are seeing snow storms that rage over the transport infrastructure. However, the heat is barely seen as warm in some parts of the world, and the snow is barely registered in northern countries. So why does it feel so extreme to us Europeans?
