Could a cloud tax happen here? Maybe.

Vermont wants to impose a tax on use of internet services if you live in the state of Vermont. They also want to impose a tax on tech giants in the state of Vermont if they have a foot print. Using windows 11 as an example, windows 11 technically would be considered a foot print. So you would have to pay a cloud tax in the form of additional fees with azure and one drive just to use your computer in Vermont.

If you subscribe to any online service and pay money to make it a reality, you are paying a 9% tax in the city of chicago. If you subscribe to Icloud for example, you are taxed 9% just to store your content online.

In germany you pay a tv tax and radio tax if you own either device where you live. Not much information was found in the form of internet use tax.

I keep it off of the internet, at least the parts I hold sacred like personal photos. If I were in the business of building clouds for people I would have to charge a 6% sales tax and have to pay a use tax in the state of Michigan. The use tax would be on the equipment and space needed to build a cloud.
