StarSeeds of Freedom! "Common Sense" by Thomas Paine, Introduction & Chapter 1

Thomas Paine's famous pamphlet "Common Sense," published in 1776, was a vital influence on the founding documents of the United States, and is absolutely relevant today — in fact more than ever, as we watch our republic slip from our hands.
We never realized the ideal outlined in those documents. Is it still possible? To give the matter deeper thought, I decided to read aloud the words of this essay, and get a better feel for what was at stake then, and how that prefigured what is at stake now.
