JFKN Clips: The sad state of prize fighting

In a merit based system fighters would own their world ranking and that would guarantee them fights against fighters of similar rank, regardless of what promotion they have a promotional agreement with.

Instead we have a production where rank doesn’t mater and fighters are locked into only fighting fighters from the same promotion.

Promoters don’t actually promote the athletes either. The fighters have to promote themselves to raise their “Q” score and fights are often matched based off of that score rather than rank.

Since the fighters rank doesn’t matter the promoters can then give fights to the athletes that agree to fight for less money.
