Does an Ag Exemptions transfer when you purchase a property in Texas?

In Texas, an agricultural (Ag) exemption does not automatically transfer when you purchase a property. The new owner must apply for the exemption, as it is tied to the property’s use and not the property itself. However, if the land continues to be used for qualified agricultural purposes, the new owner can apply to maintain the exemption.
