Leo Tolstoy converted to Christianity in the last third of his life.
Tolstoy's conversion appears to be genuine and caused him to eventually be excommunicated from the Russian Orthodox Church and have his "Spritual Christianity" writings to be censored by order of the Russian Emperor.
One of Tolstoy's most convincing claims relates to knowing the divinity of Jesus Christ by keeping to the actual teachings of Christ found in the Gospels, even to the exclusion of any religious dogma that would interfere.
