Melting beef tallow for cooking oil

Started with 18 lbs beef tallow

Chopped up
On medium low heat
melted a small amount at first
And then start adding more until pot was full
Used a canning funnel and small strainer in clean canning jars
Then with a soup ladle added the oil into the jars

After 3 hours I ended up with 8 quarts and 3 pints of cooking oil.

It can be reused after staining with a cheese cloth
And shelf stable for up to 2 years
