Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo Gonzalez arrived in Madrid on Sunday, fleeing an arrest warrant for terrorism and conspiracy related to July’s contested presidential election.

Gonzalez, now seeking asylum in Spain, had been staying at the Spanish embassy in Caracas after leaving the Dutch embassy, where he had taken refuge from late July until early September.
