Former Lt. Col. Matt Lohmeier, a former U.S. Space Force officer, has spoken out after losing his pension, claiming he was fired for criticizing the military's diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training.

Lohmeier, who served over a decade in the military before joining the Space Force in 2020, specialized in missile warning systems. He was dismissed in May 2021 after publicly opposing DEI training, which he believes is rooted in "anti-American, Marxist ideology" and harms military morale and readiness.

"Unfortunately, for the American people and for all of the men and women in uniform, it's been considered for a number of years now to be considered politically partisan to speak up against diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. And of course anyone who's looked into this matter knows, it shouldn't necessarily be considered a partisan issue."

Lohmeier described the loss of his pension as a "gut punch", stating that his dissenting views were unwelcome despite the military's purported commitment to inclusivity. He argued that his criticism was based on anti-Americanism rather than political bias.
