Terror plot to kill Pope Francis on visit to Indonesia uncovered as 7 suspects arrested

Indonesian police foiled an ISIS-inspired plot to assassinate Pope Francis during his Asia Pacific tour. Seven suspects were arrested on September 2-3 after citizens tipped off authorities.

Weapons, a drone, and ISIS leaflets were found during a raid. The suspects were angered by the Pope’s visit to a Jakarta mosque and his criticism of religious extremism.

Threats were posted on social media, including plans to set fires, the U.S. Sun has reported.
