Yom Teruah, A Memorial of Past and Future

Yom Teruah (aka Feast of Trumpets or Rosh Hashanah) is the first of God's Fall Feasts. We're commanded to keep it as "a memorial of blowing trumpets" or "shouting", but what are we memorializing? Like all of God's appointed times, this day looks both forward and backward. The trumpets call his people together, direct their movement, and announce the arrival of the King. It looks back at the creation of mankind, the voice of God at Sinai, and the first coming of Messiah Yeshua who taught us how to walk in God's ways. It looks forward to the second coming of Messiah, the judgment of God, and the final resurrection.
