BRZEZINSKI: “Vice President Kamala Harris has secured the support of over 80 corporate leaders in her bid for the presidency. In a new letter shared with CNBC, 88 current and former top executives from across the United States have endorsed Harris for president, including former 21st Century Fox CEO and one of the heirs to the Murdoch family media empire, James Murdoch. The executives argue that if Harris wins in November, the business community can be confident they will have a president who wants American industries to thrive. Stephanie, you brought this up earlier. Again, if that had been Kamala Harris on that stage yesterday, the headlines across the board would be ‘Harris horrifies at economic forum.’ But it wasn’t her on stage. It was Donald Trump, so he gets the sane washing. What do you make of this letter by the CEOs? Will it make a difference?”
RUHLE: “It’ll make a difference in what they’re basically saying is, ‘We’re looking for stability.’ And for anyone out there who is saying Kamala Harris is far more progressive than Joe Biden, she’s not. Look at the numbers she just put out this week about long-term capital gains tax. What Kamala Harris is guilty of is being a black woman. And for someone who’s not actually paying attention to economic policy, they’re saying she must be more progressive. She’s not. And to the business community saying, ‘We’re a-okay with Trump,’ I would love to sit down with them. I would love to know who was in that room yesterday. I mean, in the last week, we’re hearing names like Howard Lutnick, who’s the CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, who is now on Donald Trump’s transition team, self-made billionaire, extraordinarily successful person. I’d love to know what policies is Howard down with, or is it just, ‘Oh, we’re done with the wokeness. Lena Kahn, she’s bad for business.’ But they’re never getting into detail. And the reason we should be concerned is this is the United States recreating itself with oligarchs. Because oligarchs in Russia, they know there are scores of people living in squalor, but it doesn’t matter because they have an inside track to Vladimir Putin and they’re rich as rich can be. So the CEOs or the super wealthy people that back Donald Trump, they’re not backing Donald Trump because of his broad policies that are going to lift the economy. They’re backing Donald Trump because he’s going to hook them up personally. The one thing I would refer to is the meeting he had with Harold Hamm and other oil executives three months ago where he said, ‘You guys give me scores of money, I’ll give you whatever you want.’ Donald Trump is not a policy person. He’s transactional. And if you give to him, he will transact for you. Be aware of that, America.”
