The Old Dark House (1932)

Directed by James Whale, known for his work on Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein. Based on the novel Benighted by J.B. Priestley, the film stars Boris Karloff, Melvyn Douglas, Charles Laughton, and Gloria Stuart.
The story takes place in rural Wales, where a group of travelers, stranded by a torrential storm, seeks refuge in a mysterious old mansion owned by the eccentric and unsettling Femm family.
