A 26-year-old U.S. citizen was killed with a “deliberate shot to the head” by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank. ⁣

Aysenur Ezgi Eygi was shot dead in Beita while peacefully protesting in a weekly demonstration, held by the International Solidarity Movement against Israel’s ongoing land grabs and illegal occupation. She was the 18th person to have been killed in Beita since 2020, according to the ISM. ⁣

This isn’t the first time international citizens have been killed by Israeli forces. American Rachel Corrie and British national Tom Hurndall were volunteering with the same group in the early 2000s when they were killed by Israel. ⁣

In a statement to AJ+, the State Department said it is “urgently gathering more information about the circumstances of her death.” ⁣
