In Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39, the word of Yahweh comes to Ezekiel to prophesy against Gog and Magog, a reference to people from a distant land. The name Gog is mentioned earlier in the scripture as the son of Reuben, but this is a different Gog. There are similarities between Ezekiel's prophecy and the end time battle described in Revelation 20. Jesus will return as a warrior to establish his kingdom on earth after the millennium. After a thousand years of peace, there will be an uprising led by Gog and Magog, but they will be consumed by fire from heaven. This battle will demonstrate God's power and put an end to all arguments about his goodness and authority.
