EHD is hitting early this year and hitting hard.
All you can smell in the air when your in the wild is death. It is heart breaking to see this happen after watching them all summer long.
Epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHD) is a viral disease that affects white-tailed deer and other wild ruminants. It's spread by biting midges, also known as no-see-ums or punkies, and is most common in late summer and early fall.
EHD is often fatal for deer, but some survive and develop immunity. EHD outbreaks are usually mild in the southern United States, but can be severe in the northern United States where there's little history of exposure
