I have tested several large and super powerful flashlights recently, including some from VASTFIRE, and so I was not expecting too much from this smaller and newly updated VA-F07 model. In fact, I was very pleasantly surprised.
In the rather plain and battered box - presentation is something VASTFIRE need to work on across the board - was the torch itself, a USB charging cable, and a simple two page user guide. Also included, as with several other VASTFIRE flashlights I have reviewed, was a bonus gift of a compact sized UV light disclosing torch.
Build quality seems fine and up to the usual VASTFIRE standard. The flashlight is made entirely from aluminium alloy with a proper glass lens. There is a grommet protected bay housing the USB-C input port and the USB-A port used to charge external devices - yes the flashlight will also serve as an emergency power bank.
Operating the flashlight is easy enough, double press the single backlit button to enter full power mode, and single press to scroll through the three brightness modes. Long press to enter SOS distress mode. The light beam can be zoomed in and out by pushing the lens forwards and back and this works really well.
Here are the operating mode capabilities:
High (10000 lumens): 6 hours run time / 1,260 yards range
Medium (6000 lumens): 8 hours / 698 yards;
Low (1000 lumens): 12 hours / 169 yards
Strobe (6000 lumens): 10 hours / 698 yards
SOS (6000 lumens): 12 hours / 698 yards
It has a 5000 mAh Lithium type 21700 replaceable battery charged through the USB-C port with charging time taking between six and eight hours. The button LED confirms the battery charging status. You can charge external USB devices using the flashlight as a power bank through the USB-A port with enough power to charge or top up most standard phones.
The torch does work well and is far brighter than I was expecting and for once I believe the claims made for it that it may well have a genuine 10K lumens output.
As regards the free gift UV torch, this compact little torch is designed to show up organic stains (such as urine) as they will show up brightly in the fluorescence UV light. This works well and the little torch is small enough to keep in the pocket or a car glove box when cleaning. For the price it is a nice little bonus.
This is a very decent medium sized flashlight, powerful, well made and easy to use. It is small enough to keep in your coat pocket but powerful enough for sustained outdoor use and being IPX6 waterproof it should be good in all weathers. At the time of writing the price of this flashlight has not been made clear but I would expect to pay less than $100 for it before discounts.
