Shocking Moment A Man Slaps Waitress in Her Face at Nando's in Stratford, the Incident Goes Viral

A Nando's waitress was viciously attacked by a male customer who smacked her across the face with a plate while she tried to serve him.

The 'savage' and 'unprovoked' assault took place in March at a branch in Stratford, London, with footage of the incident going viral overnight after it was shared on X.

In it, the female waitress is seen approaching a table where a bearded man, wearing a black beanie and dark hoody, is sitting with a woman and baby.

As the Nando's server places a plate of food on his table, CCTV captures the moment the male thug lashes out and slaps her across the face with a dinner plate.

The force of the brutal blow sends the stunned waitress flying backward, leaving her holding her face, as horrified diners nearby turn around to watch the drama.

The battered worker then leaves the scene as her attacker gets up and walks away from the table with the woman and child, leaving a full plate of food behind.

It's not known what triggered the man's violent outburst, with footage of the assault uploaded on Wednesday evening,

One woman, who claimed to have been the assaulted waitress, shared the clip on X - with the video notching up more than 20 million views since last night.

'No way I've come onto this app and seen myself get assaulted,' she wrote.

The incident was reported to the Metropolitan Police - but the woman who shared the video was critical of the force's response.

She wrote: 'The police were present at the time, I reported it to them and they let him go without taking his details or checking the CCTV. I filed a complaint against the officers and their supervisor got back to me and essentially said “They’re humans and made a mistake”.'

The Met Police said it was 'aware' of the video footage and said it was investigating why the incident was 'not progressed promptly' by officers.

A spokesman told MailOnline: 'A report of assault was made to police at the time of the incident, however, it appears this was not progressed promptly by officers. We are working to establish why this happened and accept this is not the level of service Londoners should rightfully expect from the Met.

'We have since made contact with the victim and a statement has been taken – we will endeavor to keep her updated with the progress of this investigation.

'There has been no arrest and inquiries are ongoing to locate the man involved.

'Anyone who can provide information about this incident should call 101 ref CAD 1872/21 Aug.'

Viewers on social media said they were appalled by the attack, branding the man's actions as 'disgusting', 'criminal', and 'savage'.

'This man is unhinged! Seriously, why do that? Is he sick? What a savage,' wrote one person.

Another user added: 'Assaulting someone over food? That’s a one-way ticket to jail. Seems like even working at a restaurant doesn’t guarantee safety anymore. Pathetic.

In a statement, Nando's spokeswoman said: 'This was a shocking and unprovoked attack earlier this year. We reported it to the police immediately and have supported our colleague since.

'We will not tolerate this kind of behavior, the safety of our colleagues and customers is our priority.'
