Sheetz Opens First Store in Michigan

Sheetz opened their first store in Michigan last Tuesday, with CEO Travis Sheetz joining a grand opening celebration in Romulus for the August 27th debut of the store to the public

The celebration featured raffled prizes, free drinks, and a ribbon cutting outside the store

Several elected officials were present for the ceremony, with Romulus Mayor Robert McCraight giving remarks and proclaiming the day "Sheetz Day" in the City of Romulus

The company gave $5,000 each to Special Olympics Michigan, Forgotten Harvest, and Romulus Parks and Recreation during the opening ceremony

Following the Tuesday opening of Sheetz's 752nd store, the Altoona, Pennsylvania-based company is planning to open dozens of other stores in the state

Officials in some Michigan cities, such as Fraser and Madison Heights, have rejected proposed Sheetz locations, while sites in other cities including Taylor and Warren are moving forward
