On September 16, 2023 in Florida, officers responded to Walmart regarding a shoplifting in progress. It was reported that three female subjects had gone to the self-checkout area. One female proceeded to stack items together and scan only one item before bagging the items, while another female bagged multiple items scanning anything. Walmart loss prevention paused the transaction to allow a self-checkout host to offer to take the women to a manned checkout, but the women declined and went to another self-checkout counter where they proceeded to bag unscanned items once again. According to Walmart loss prevention, the women only paid for four scanned items before exiting the store. Walmart loss prevention confronted the women about the unpaid merchandise, and the women then abandoned their items and hurried to their vehicle. When officers arrived on scene, the women were attempting to leave. This is body-cam footage of the events that followed.
