BREAM: “Vice President Harris Thursday insisting Israel right to defend itself, while seemingly criticizing the way it is currently doing so. You heard Senator Vance there saying she could be doing more to end the conflict as part of this current administration. We are back with the panel. Obviously, want to get back to our top story today about the six hostages that have been recovered from Gaza, found dead, including an Israeli American, Hersh Goldberg-Polin. President Biden saying this in reaction: ‘I’m devastated and outraged. Make no mistake, Hamas leaders will pay for these crimes and we will keep working around-the-clock for a deal to secure the release of the remaining hostages.’ Roger, I know you know this family and the parents, and you’ve worked with them to try to get their son home.”
ZAKHEIM: “Well, it’s tragic. I know you’ve had Rachel on the show and I’m wishing them the strength and comfort during this devastating time. Israel is mourning and the United States is mourning too on Hersh’s execution, as we have learned, in Rafah. But we ought to remember what Rachel and John spoke about when they came to the United States throughout this 330-day nightmare, and that is, this a problem is urgent. That is what she said to the president of the United States. That is what she said to the members of Congress. We have not sufficiently addressed this urgency. The president of the United States, in his statement, talked about there needs to be a price paid by Hamas. Those words ring hollow. There have been 330 days for Hamas to pay a price and they have not. They’ve executed an American citizen. There needs to be an accounting before anything else. We have not seen that. That is something I think Americans look for. And last thing on it, it goes to a broader policy point, is Hamas is part of this network. It’s part of Hezbollah, it’s part of the Houthis, it stems from Iran and Tehran. And we have not seen, in the Biden/Harris administration, a policy shift since October 7th for what is the source of the attacks, is the source of what Hamas did to Hersh Goldberg-Polin.”
