Enhancement inspired by Dave Volsky | With the NFC Central lead at stake and before a national TV audience, the Lions battered Minnesota, 13-2, with an outstanding defensive effort. Detroit sacked the Vikings seven times, two going to Doug English, and Bruce McNorton intercepted his sixth pass. The Vikings were stopped five times inside Lion territory, once at the two-yard line. Billy Sims registered his fourth consecutive 100-yard game, gaining 137 yards and 118 of it during the first half. Jeff Chadwick was the leading pass receiver with five receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown. The Lions were now in the driver's seat, needing simply to win one of their last two games to clinch the division title.
