The IDF announced the decision on social media, stating that the areas are now part of the designated Humanitarian Area following operations against terror organizations. However, residents who returned found their homes and neighborhoods in ruins, with no power, gas, or intact houses. One resident, Abdulfattah Al Bourdaini, expressed his despair at finding only a teddy bear amidst the destruction, while another, Musa Al Bourdaini, questioned the reason for the extensive damage to their home and neighborhood. Multiple displacements since October have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and evacuation orders have hindered aid efforts.
