Facebook settled ongoing privacy probes with the FTC and SEC over the Cambridge Analytica scandal. Yet the Consumer Protection Branch of the U.S. Department of Justice is now filing a lawsuit against the company. According to Business Insider, the lawsuit alleges Facebook violated a 2012 order from the FTC. The order prohibited the company from misrepresenting how it protects consumer data. As a plaintiff, the DOJ seeks “civil penalties, an injuction and other equitable relief.”
