“Real Law vs Fake Law”
36th In our series the Prophet Micah

I. The Judgment of God upon the wicked - Micah 6:13-15
* A. Physical illness can be a judgment from God
* 1. It is not always so in every case - John 9:1-7
* a. The fall of mankind into sin brought about sickness, disease and death
* b. Therefore not every sickness can be directly drawn to a sin committed by the one falling sick
* 2. The sickness Micah is referring to is God “smiting” Judah’s people for their sins
* B. The desolation of their land will occur due to their sin
* C. They will labor but not ever be able to enjoy the fruits of that labor
* 1. Food that does not satisfy as well as an actual famine
* 2. Trying to protect their possessions and their families will be futile in the war that is to come
* 3. Their labors in the olive yard and vineyard will be stolen from them

II. The Historic Root of their sin - Micah 6:16
* A. Wicked king Omri established fake law in Israel which was followed by succeeding generations in Judah - 1 Kings 16:23-26
* 1. The fake law established the religion of Baal worship
* a. True Law is only that which fully accords with God’s Law given in the Word of God
* b. For repentance to take place Fake law must be rejected and replaced with True Law
* 2. His son Ahab did even worse - 1 Kings 16:29-33
* a. Baal was the male fertility idol
* b. Ishtar the female fertility idol
* B. The Lord would cause Judah to be mocked, ridiculed and scorned by all the surrounding nations
