In the first Thessalonians chapter, the author encourages believers to not be ignorant about the resurrection of Jesus, as it will bring hope to those who are asleep. The author's family, including seven children, started a successful business, the Wright Cycle Exchange, selling bicycle brakes and greased wheel hubs. They were inspired by a flying machine model and shared the hobby. The Wright Cycle Exchange was established in 1892 and later expanded to include bicycle manufacturing and repair. The profits from their business were used to support their aviation experiments, including powered flights in 1903, 1904, and 1905. The Wright Cycle Exchange's flying machine, made of spruce with an aluminum engine, was the first plane to fly with a pilot. The Flyer, which never flew again, is now housed in the Smithsonian museum since 1948.
