David Frederick, assistant deputy director for China at the National Security Agency, joined a discussion on critical infrastructure and cybersecurity challenges at an intelligence conference in Bethesda, Maryland. Topics addressed included cybersecurity benefits and risks of artificial intelligence (AI), election security, cybersecurity threats from malignant foreign actors, the importance of private-public partnerships, and critical infrastructure concerns, such as attacks on U.S. water systems. Also discussed were concerns regarding China’s state-sponsored hacker known as “Volt Typhoon,” which has been targeting critical infrastructure in the United States
