Varney: “Next one. Kamala Harris will finally sit down for an interview nearly 40 days after launching her campaign. However, it will be a joint interview alongside Tim Walz and it will air on CNN tomorrow. OK, Leo, why can’t she do this alone?”
TERRELL: “Oh, that’s simple. She’s afraid. She — she — you cannot find a single one-on-one interview with a journalist where she’s able to articulate a viewpoint. She has no moral compasses to her policies. So she needs a helper. She needs a lifeline. She needs a backup plan. And that’s why Tim Walz is there. Because if Dana Bash does her job, Stu, she has an inventory of video and audio that identify Kamala Harris as a socialist. So the Democrats, the DNC, do not trust Kamala Harris, so they brought in backup and that’s the VP.”
Varney: “That won’t work. That won’t work with voters if it’s perceived that she needs help and she doesn’t know what she’s doing in terms of policy. Won’t work.”
TERRELL: “I agree with you. And you — you can have Donald Trump. Donald Trump will sit by it without any notes for hours, go one-on-one. Kamala Harris is a weak candidate. The American public knows that. And Dana Bash, if she does her job, will expose that. She has no compass as to what her policies are. And again, I can’t say it clear enough, Tim Walz is a lifeline. In case she gets in trouble with a word salad, he jumps in.”
Varney: “It’s going to be taped, a taped interview broadcast tomorrow night. I just want — that leaves opportunity for editing, doesn’t it? Last word to you.”
TERRELL: “Oh, you know — oh, absolutely. Thank you very much. It’s going to be edited. I mean, I guarantee you for CNN to get that interview, they had to submit to the conditions of the DNC. That tape will be edited. You and I want to see the raw footage if we get a chance to see it.”
Varney: “And we won’t. Leo Terrell, thanks for joining us today. (Laughter) Good man. See you later. Thanks a lot.”
TERRELL: “Thanks, Stu.”
