Nikolai found out that his unit was to be deployed to Kursk region when he was near the border.

AFU commanders promised that 'we are going there for 15 days, and then we will return back alive.'

'But it turned out to be a lie. Many of us were wounded, half of us were killed. We were treated as cannon fodder'.

The POW added that Ukrainian servicemen looted from civilian houses:

'Yes, they looted. When they came in, they didn't even have time to undress - they were already started to loot. Phones, lighters, money, alcohol'. Source
