This newly updated torch and power bank from VASTFIRE is large in size but with a medium sized power output and a budget pre-discount price of just $46.55 at the time of writing.
In the plain and simple box were the 12 x 2.3 x 2.3 inches 500g aluminium alloy flashlight itself, a preinstalled large rechargeable battery, a USB-C charging cable, two battery adapter tube sets, and a prefitted wrist lanyard. No User Guide was included, which is a pity. The build quality of everything included seems first-rate, heavy duty and clearly built to last. Also included was a small sized 365nm UV light disclosing torch, a useful and unexpected free gift.
On the front is the battery status LED row and control button, on the other side is the grommett protected bay for the USB-C charging port and the USB-A power out port.
The flashlight is powered by a single 10000mAh Lithium Polymer battery which can be removed from the torch for external charging or exchange. The earlier version of this torch was powered by two 26650 batteries and I strongly suspect this new and unusual battery is two 26650s bonded together. I have seen this large type of battery before listed as a type C (not the standard type C also known as LR14) and I cannot find replacements online, but I think two 26650s should work fine. The battery takes up to eight hours to charge from flat using the USB-C port on the side of the torch with the LED row showing the charging level.
Operation could not be simpler. Press the control button to scroll through the two torch brightness levels and strobing modes. Press again to access the 300 lumens COB sidelight panel with high and low brightness levels as well as solid and strobing red light. Push and pull the torch lens to zoom in and out.
The torch also works as a power bank and should be able to charge a smartphone or other external devices at least once using the USB-A output port. The charging level output seems good and high and so should charge the phone reasonably swiftly.
Another feature of the torch is that it can be used as an escape tool or for self-defence. The front of the lens assembly has a serrated edge suitable for cutting or digging and the weight of the torch and the tough metal construction makes it serve as a makeshift hammer or club.
Here are the changes I have seen from the earlier model.
LED model upgraded from XHP70.2 to XHP90.2
Waterproof level from IPX4 to IPX7.
Battery changed from x2 26650 to one new type C
Improved Packaging
The flashlight is not the brightest I have tried despite the ludicrous 1000000 Lumen claims made for it (surely a misprint?), but the output is more than bright enough for most situations, indoors or out, and this still remains one of the brightest torches I have yet tested.
This is a well-made and heavy duty torch and a good buy for anyone looking for an all-purpose full-sized outdoor flashlight.
