Iran-backed Houthis have released a video showing an explosion of a tanker on the Red Sea carrying 150,000 tonnes of crude oil.

The 274-meter-long Greek-flagged Sounion ship departed from Iraq and was headed for a port near Athens on August 21.

The ship was struck by the Houthi insurgents just off the rebel-held Hodeida Port.

The video was posted to social media by the Houthis, showing three explosions on the ship, which reportedly came from missiles and drone strikes.

The 25-man crew of the Sounion, containing 23 Filipinos and two Russians, were rescued by a ship belonging to the European Union’s Aspides.
