No Evidence that Maduro Won, Says Top Venezuelan Election Official

A top-ranking election official in Venezuela, Juan Carlos Delpino, has openly criticized the results of July’s disputed presidential election, stating that there is no evidence President Nicolás Maduro won.

Delpino, who is part of the national electoral committee and aligned with the opposition, emphasized transparency in his statement.

Despite growing international demands for vote transparency, the Maduro-controlled Supreme Court declared Maduro the winner.

As global criticism mounts, more sanctions may be imposed, though the effectiveness of past sanctions is debated, Semafor has reported.
