Indian River County deputies arrest motorcyclist who tried to flee from a helicopter

22-year-old Austin Schwartz attempted to flee from our deputies. Schwartz drove recklessly into oncoming traffic, weaved between cars, ran red lights, and even passed a school bus. This incident occurred during peak traffic hours, putting many other motorists at risk. Such reckless driving will not be tolerated.

Our helicopter, HAWK, was able to track Schwartz until he came to an abrupt stop. He was charged with reckless driving and fleeing/eluding law enforcement and is currently being held in the Indian River County Jail on a $40,000 bond.
