Footage of the deployment and combat duty in the Kursk-Sumy direction of the multifunctional radar for detection, tracking and target designation based on the C-band AESA 96Л6-ЦП (central post) from the S-350 Vityaz air defense system.

The key feature of this radar system based on an active phased array (presumably based on gallium arsenide microwave transistors) is its high immunity to interference, achieved thanks to the ability to form dips in the directional pattern in narrow spatial sectors of the enemy's electronic warfare systems.

The software and hardware adaptation of primary and secondary radar information processing devices for detection and tracking of small hypersonic ballistic targets with a RCS of 0.01-0.02 sq. m and speeds of up to 4500 m/s has been implemented.

Targets with a RCS of 0.1 sq. m are detected at a distance of approximately 120 km, 0.01 sq. m at approximately 60 km, 1 sq. m at 230 km.

The 96Л6-ЦП radar can also have a counter-battery mode of operation, detecting 155mm artillery shells on ascending branches of trajectories at a distance of 60-80 km and calculating the firing positions of enemy barrel and rocket artillery using additional software.

The 96Л6-ЦП radar is capable of detecting and capturing ATACMS ballistic missiles diving at angles greater than 85 degrees and providing target designation to the 50Н6А multifunctional "firing" radar, which provides target designation to the "Сланец" active radar homing heads of the 9М96ДМ anti-aircraft missiles of the Vityaz complexes.

This radar system can also be synchronized with the combat control points of the S-400, Buk-M3 and S-300V4 air defense systems via the "Поляна-Д4М1" automated control system, sharply increasing fire performance and reducing the response time of these air defense systems to enemy air and space attack weapons that have entered their range.

It is noteworthy that the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense presents this radar system as a purely counter-battery radar.
The use of this new system in the northern area is involved in the effective suppression of the HIMARS systems we have seen in recent days.
