Whenever we think of snakes we think of something truly sinister and evil. Snakes have been used to depict everything bad in folklore for many a centuries. If you recall, it was a snake that persuaded Eve in eating the forbidden fruit. Snakes have been used in ancient paintings and murals to portray death, suffering and evil.

"In this video, we were wade fishing for smallmouth bass in the Saline River. We love catching and handling all creatures we can get our hands on, especially snakes, and we encounter many snakes on our daily adventures. On this day we came across many snakes, but the Diamondback Water snake featured in the video stood out to us because it was pretty large. Jessica proceeded to catch the snake and handle it, and I captured the video. We make a lot of snake catching and handling videos, so this was just a normal thing for us. The snake was not very impressed with being handled and displayed aggressive behavior by striking at Jessica. Jessica did not get bit in this video, unlike some others. She has been working on getting bit less this year!" - says the licensor of this video.

Despite its reputation this Diamondback water snake is not overly aggressive. But whenever it feels threatened and it feels an imminent danger, the snake tries to bite Jessica. It is the snake’s way of protecting itself from predators and to show that it is present and shouldn’t be messed with. The moment Jessica decides to release the snake in the water, it opens its big mouth trying to bite whoever happens to be in its way and before it roams freely in the water, it coils and shakes its tail. Jessica and her friend are real adrenaline junkies and thrill seekers looking for new ways to have a crazy time trying their hand at things that are absolutely crazy. The adrenaline rush comes from pushing themselves to conquer their biggest fears by defying all logic and sense of reasoning and just taking the plunge, quite literally!

Snakes can be anywhere, from the arid deserts of Australia to the tropical backyards of Florida residents. Those who are unfortunate enough to be bitten by snakes have described agonizing snake bite symptoms such as difficulty breathing, vomiting and nausea; numbness, and organ failure. And even thought here is an anti-venom which has been responsible for the survival of many, if not treated, bites from venomous snakes can still claim lives. From Russell’s Viper to the Black Mamba, there are many venomous snakes. And just to be clear, most if not all venomous snakes are not out to get you. More often than not, they just want to be left alone. A desire that you should heed if you ever come across one. That is if you value your life.

Have snakes ever been known for being cute and cuddly? Absolutely not! These crawly critters have the ability to strangulate a person when they constrict around it and some of them have a bite so lethal, you might die a slow torturous death as the poison spreads through your system. Snake poison has been extracted and used to kill many adversaries since ancient times.
