Cobb County GA BOC - Home Rule Map Discussion - August 26, 2024

Item #46 on today's Board of Commissioner's Agenda sought a solution to the Home Rule District Maps which were ruled to be unconstitutional by Cobb Superior Judge Kellie S. Hill Last Tuesday (8/20/2024). JoAnn Birrell offered the the best solution to resolve the matter via procedurally repealing the act which created the Home Rule Map, This proposal was not well accepted by the Democrat board members and countered the advice of the Board's attorney. Appeals for outside counsel was acknowledged as possible, but not funded. References to this entire matter being discussed in executive session was refuted by 2 board members and independently confirmed as a blatant prevarication by parties in attendance (in person or virtually).

The rhetoric from some of the Board members was undeniably partisan and often played the "race card" despite attempts to cloak the obvious. At the 18 minute mark - one commissioner even described the issue as the Crips versus the Bloods.
