Hezbollah launched an attack on Israel, firing over 320 rockets in retaliation for the death of its senior commander, Faud Shukr, last month. Early Sunday morning, the Israeli Defense Ministry announced it had conducted pre-emptive strikes against Lebanon after receiving intelligence that Hezbollah was planning an attack.

Hezbollah had previously warned of retaliation following the assassination of its senior leader in Beirut. The group claimed responsibility for the offensive, stating that they employed numerous drones and fired over 320 Katyusha rockets targeting 11 Israeli bases.

Tensions between Hezbollah and the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have reached unprecedented levels, even as negotiators attempt to broker peace through a potential exchange of Israeli and Palestinian prisoners.

The United States expressed solidarity with Israel, pledging support in any defense operations. US National Security Council spokesperson Sean Savett stated that "senior US officials have been in continuous communication with their Israeli counterparts," following President Joe Biden's directive to monitor developments in Israel and Lebanon closely.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant declared a 48-hour emergency in response to Hezbollah's attacks, urging citizens to avoid large gatherings and remain in protected areas.
