8,000-Year-Old Female Figurine Found In Prehistoric Ulucak

Archaeologists have uncovered an 8,000-year-old figurine of a female at the Neolithic site of Ulucak Höyük in western Turkey. Initially, such figurines were believed to depict the Mother Goddess. However, this one may represent a high-status individual in the community and was possibly used in fertility rituals.
