INSECTS

Red ants (RA) and imported fire ants (IFA), both from the genus Solenopsis, are notably strong ants that deliver painful, burning stings. They grasp their target with mandibles and inject venom through their stinger (SCARY).

A key difference between both is their behavior: RA are less aggressive and have less noticeable caste structures, while IFA become very aggressive when their large mounds are disturbed. Additionally, RA have 10 antennae segments, whereas IFA have 11 (You won’t want to hold them down to observe anyway, would you? FIRE!).

If you encounter any of these ants, here’s what to do:

- Consult pest professionals: Reach out to a reputable pest control service, such as HomeTeam Pest Defense, for a thorough inspection and treatment plan. They have the expertise and tools to manage ant infestations effectively.

- Follow professional recommendations: Adhere to the guidance provided by pest control experts for the best results.

- Conduct regular inspections: Schedule routine pest inspections to address ant infestations early before they become severe.
