The highly anticipated movie, Reagan, is based on Paul Kengor’s book, The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism. Kengor recorded this episode of The Weekend Spectator from the Reagan Ranch Center, after attending the movie’s red carpet premiere with his family.

Starring Dennis Quaid, David Henrie, John Voight, and Penelope Ann Miller, the film embodies President Ronald Reagan’s character. It is uplifting, patriotic, and unifying — qualities that have become increasingly rare in both Hollywood and politics.

Kengor takes viewers back 20 years, to the day he got the call from producer Mark Joseph about creating Reagan from his book. Throughout the creation of the film, he regularly consulted on the script and worked closely with actor Dennis Quaid, who played the former president.

In addition to his experience with Quaid, Kengor explains his close relationship with Bill Clark, who became like a grandfather to him. Clark was Reagan’s closest aide and friend and is a prominent character in the film.

The movie will hit theaters across the country on Aug. 30. Find a theater near you and support the film!
