Jackson Pollock's - An Iconic Technique
Jackson Pollock was born on January 28, 1912, in Cody, Wyoming, and became one of the most influential American painters of the 20th century.
He was a leading figure in the abstract expressionist movement, known for his unique 'drip painting' technique.
Pollock’s technique involved dripping, pouring, and splattering paint onto a canvas laid on the ground, allowing him to engage with his work from all angles.
His most famous work, 'No. 5, 1948,' was sold in a private sale for over $140 million, making it one of the most expensive paintings ever.
Pollock's revolutionary approach to painting earned him the nickname 'Jack the Dripper.
Despite his success, Pollock struggled with alcoholism and died in a car crash in 1956, at the age of 44, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the art world.
